MONEY ISSUES

Introduction

Most students find it difficult to manage on the limited income they receive as part of the Student Support package from their Local Education Authority (LEA).

It has therefore become increasingly important for students to develop and maintain good budgeting skills. Faced with rising levels of debt, budgeting will help to prevent you running up substantial debt beyond your means which may result in threat of re-possession/eviction from your home, disconnection of your fuel supply or the inability to complete your course.

This section aims to provide you with information you need to manage your money better and make student support stretch just a little bit further. It covers what funding is available from your LEA, Tax Credits, benefits, employment, banking and overdrafts to University funding such as Access to Learning Fund and Emergency Loans. There will also be a section offering tips on budgeting.
